THE 3-STEP PROCESS
USA MoldGuard’s mold prevention application is an exclusive three step mold removal and prevention process. This process has gained wide acceptance and demand by single and multi-family builders nationwide as more emphasis is being placed on building healthy homes as well as following “green” building specifications. This process is also outlined in our CSI spec for Mold Prevention 02155 [02 85 00] which can be forwarded to interested parties upon request.
PRE-TREAT SODA BLAST ALL VISIBLE MOLD IN INTERIOR FRAMING
USA MoldGuard uses a media blasting technology that literally removes any visible contamination from the wood surface without compromising structural integrity. This process cleans any lumber that is either contaminated before arrival to the job site or from exposure during the construction process. Our method is effective, efficient and does not damage the integrity of the either the lumber or MEPs.
CLEANUP AND REMOVAL OF ALL RESIDUAL MEDIA AND DEBRIS
We professionally remove all residual blasting media debris in the area as well as other construction debris left behind by other trades, saving the builder costly project clean-up costs. Believe it or not, this extra step is not standard in the industry, but it is the way we believe business should be done.
APPLY LUMBERGUARD ANTIMICROBIAL TO ALL FRAMED LUMBER, AS PER MANUFACTURER’S LABEL
USA MoldGuard utilizes only EPA registered products that are compatible with all MEPs. These surface treatments are designed to prevent and inhibit microbial infestation. The value of these applicants is that they are non-toxic, non-leaching, non-migrating and are environmentally safe, eliminating the risk of exposure as with other products. Once we have treated a structure, mold will not grow on our treated surfaces regardless of future introduction of moisture.
The primary mode of action is physical and not chemical. This means that treated surfaces will not lose their killing action over time and cannot be washed off. Microbes are terminated by the polymer’s positively charged surface composition, which acts like a bed of nails, drawing the microbe in and rupturing its outer cellular wall. The antimicrobial is applied using the latest in airless sprayer technology, thus effectively coating all interior surfaces.

FEATURES: CLASS A FIRE RETARDANT, FUNGICIDE, MOISTURE BARRIER
Lumberguard 2 is a water-based, post-treatment, interior/ exterior fire retardant, and wood preservative that penetrates the material and bonds with the cellular structure. The penetrant protects the substrate by developing a self- extinguishing reaction when the treated material meets an open flame. When properly applied on certain untreated woods such as Douglas fir, the wood shall have a Class A rating. Lumberguard 2 is non-toxic, non-combustible, non- carcinogenic, and contains no PDBE’s.
Lumberguard 2 is a Class A, one-coat system with a Flame Spread of 25 and Smoke Developed of 25 on Douglas fir. Since Lumberguard 2 penetrates and forms a molecular bond with the substrate, the life of the flame retardation shall be indefinite for most interior applications.
Lumberguard 2 will not alter the structural integrity of wood, such as pressure treatment does, and is preferred, because it functions as a wood preservative, and can be easily applied by spraying to ensure coverage of all the interior framing and cavities. Like Lumberguard 1, Lumberguard 2 contains mold and mildew inhibitors which are effective against mold growth.
